I annotate live on a shared document, so you're watching a 50-study-score approach get built in real time (the metalanguage being identified, the essay contention being constructed, the SAQ being dissected line by line). You're not squinting at a whiteboard from the back of a room. What is taught in the weekly 2-hour group sessions?

I teach English Language like a maths or science subject. That single decision is why my students improve so fast.Most English Language tutoring is vague. "Analyse the register." "Discuss the social purpose." Students nod along, go home, and have no idea what to actually write. The subject gets treated like an art when it is, in reality, a highly systematic subject with predictable question types and repeatable structures.
So I break it into a system:1 - Full VCAA study design coverage - every outcome, every dot point, taught from the ground up. Nothing assumed, nothing skipped.2 - A fixed, repeatable process for all three exam sections. You'll have a step-by-step method for Short Answer Questions, for Analytical Commentary, and for the Essay. Not "here's what a good one looks like". An actual procedure you follow under time pressure when your brain is fried and the clock is at 12 minutes.3 - The top 1% techniques I used to score a raw 50. The specific moves that separate a 40 from a 48: how to select and deploy contemporary examples, how to structure an AC so the assessor can find your marks instantly, how to write a contention that isn't generic.4 - Constant application, not passive listening. Every session includes practice texts, essay prompts and SAQs worked live. My whole framework is Learn → Apply → Feedback → Log Mistakes, and classes are where the first two happen. Every student contributes. Do you actually need English Language tutoring to score 40+?

You can absolutely score well in English Language without a tutor. Students do it every year. That's the real question: not can you do it alone, but how long will it take you, and will you get there before the exam?
Because there's no guarantee you figure it out at all. Plenty of hardworking students plateau at 35 for a full year, not from lack of effort, but because they're practising the wrong approach very diligently. Effort without the right method just entrenches the habits costing you marks.
I spent a year working out what actually produces a raw 50. You can skip that year. You get the finished system on day one and spend your time applying it instead of searching for it.The honest framing: tutoring isn't the difference between passing and failing. It's the difference between arriving at 45 in October versus arriving there in the exam room you never sat.

I’m struggling with English Language or falling behind. Will this class be too fast-paced for me?
